Risk factors in midlife- Obesity


According to the WHO, Ireland is on course to become the most obese nation in Europe by 2030- that is quiet scary.

New evidence supports the relationship between increased Body Mass Index (BMI) and risk of dementia from a review of 19 longitudinal studies including 589,649 people aged 35 to 65 years who were followed up for up to 42 years (Livingstone et al., 2020.

Obesity- which is BMI over 30 was linked to an increased risk of developing dementia in later life (Albanese et al., 2017).
